Hong Kong, 19 April 2011 --- Wing Cheung Hing Knitters (WCH) today announced that WCH accepted the Caring Company Certificate from The Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS) at the Caring Company NGO Partnership Day 2010/11.
Launched by the HKCSS in 2002, the Caring Company Scheme aims at cultivating good corporate citizenship. Hong Kong's first initiative of its kind, it is specifically geared to building strategic partnerships among businesses, the public and non-profit organizations to create a more cohesive society. In the year 2010/11, 2217 companies and organizations were awarded the Caring Company logo/ Caring Organization Logo. The figure not only reflects the society's recognition of the Scheme but also indicates that more companies and organizations are willing to take up corporate social responsibility (CSR). The Scheme has set three main scopes for this year's award adjudication: Caring for the Community, Caring for the Employees and Caring the the Environment. To raise the level of CRS fulfillment, all nominated companies and organizations are required to fulfill at least 2 criteria from each scope. Besides cultivating corporate citizenship, the Scheme also endeavors to promote partnership between the business and the social welfare sectors. Through cross-sectoral activities and exchanges, the two sectors can get to know and understand each other and exchange experience, upholding the ultimate objective of working together to launch community projects. The exchanges also help the social service organizations improve their management and governance capability.
The HKCSS, an umbrella organization of over 380 social service organizations, is committed to promoting the development of social welfare. Through the Caring Company Scheme, HKCSS fosters business and social service organizations to work together with key focuses on providing cross-sectoral dialogue opportunities for better understanding of community needs, facilitating networking and matching potential partners, educating the public about CSR and its impact on the community. Riding on the success of the Scheme, the HKCSS CSR Institute was established in December 2010 to further demonstrate HKCSS's commitment to promoting CSR.
